Indigo Girls

—Closer To Fine

Lilith Fair, can you hear me?

But like, these lyrics.

There’s more than one answer to these questions

Pointing me in a crooked line

The less the I seek my source for some definitive

The closer I am to fine

{fin.}

I’ve had this open in my browser for a few days (I’m a self-admitted tab hoarder), and can’t stop thinking about it. Isn’t it reassuring to know that more than one solution exists?
“In the center is a problem, or issue, or topic, whatever you want to imagine there. It can be something you need to do at work, or your relationship with a best friend, or a goal you want to reach this year.
The outer points are the possible solutions, or answers, or outcomes.
For every problem or topic we have, there are a seemingly infinite number of solutions and answers. Creativity is connecting the problem to the solutions, and the outcome of any creative endeavour always includes more than one connection.”

Coeur de Pirate

Coeur de Pirate is the hotness. Of course, the jams in French are their bread and butter, but I’m totally in love with this English track, “Wicked Games.”

Self-help yourself

The name of my blog isn’t just an attempt at half-hearted self-deprecating humor; I have actually indulged in some self-improvement research recently. It started when I picked up Gretchen Rubin’s stunt non-fiction best-seller, The Happiness Project, which, though mostly cheesy and often times forced, made me reframe life a little bit. Not just my life, but life in general. How we spend it, how others look at it, how we improve upon the lives we lead. So when I finished the book, I jotted down some of the titles for “further reading.” I know.

That led me to The Art of Happiness, which is essentially a 300-page interview of the 14th Dalai Lama, trying to get to the bottom of how we can all lead happier lives. I started watching Oprah’s Lifeclass, and then I moved onto Super Soul Sundays, another show on OWN. This dude named Mark Nepo was on, talking about something he wrote called The Book of Awakening. So I started reading that. He also mentioned Eckhart Tolle, who wrote a bunch of books on self-improvement, spirituality and enlightenment, and so I went to the library and got The Power of Now, which I’m currently reading. Some of it isn’t my thing, but it’s pretty cool to learn how other people look at and experience life.

Why does self-help stuff get such a bad rep? I’m digging it.

The last Tumblrer on earth

Blogging is 80s. But lately I’ve been craving a space to otherwise divulge my life thoughts. So, here we are.

As Woody Allen once said, “I’d never follow a Tumblr that would allow me as follower.” Truth.

Small, small words of love, spoken everyday, your home becomes like heaven, and life a real delight.
